How This Tier List Works

This tier list ranks every upgrade available in the Save Your Cat shop as of August 2026. Rankings are based on a combination of Speed acceleration, resource efficiency, and long-term progression impact. Each upgrade is placed in the tier that best reflects its overall value across a typical player journey from first session to late game.

The tier list assumes you are playing in a standard server with average multiplayer participation. Some upgrades perform differently in full-server or solo scenarios — these differences are noted in the upgrade descriptions.

Every Second +1 SPEED — Save Your Cat

S Tier — Always Buy First

Speed Multiplier (all tiers) The Speed Multiplier upgrade line is the single most important set of purchases in the entire game. Every tier of this upgrade multiplies your base one-point-per-second Speed gain. The compounding effect is enormous: a tier-five Speed Multiplier upgrade turns your base one point per second into five points per second, which dramatically accelerates Seeds, Buttons, and all downstream systems. Buy every available tier of Speed Multiplier before spending resources on anything else. There is no scenario in which a different upgrade is a better first purchase.

A Tier — High Impact, Strong Value

Seed Generation Rate (tiers 1–5) After Speed Multiplier, Seed Generation Rate upgrades give the next highest return on investment. More Seeds per minute means you can buy more Speed Multiplier upgrades, creating a positive feedback loop. Prioritise tiers one through five before looking at other upgrade lines.

Button Drop Rate (tiers 1–3) Button drop rate upgrades unlock higher-tier Speed and Special upgrades that Seeds alone cannot access. Early tiers of Button Drop Rate are worth purchasing as soon as you can afford them because they gate access to powerful upgrades further down the tree.

B Tier — Solid Choices Once S and A Are Maxed

Seed Generation Rate (tiers 6–10) Later tiers of Seed Generation Rate are still valuable but have diminishing returns compared to early tiers. Purchase these once your Speed Multiplier is maxed and you have accumulated a large Seed surplus.

Button Drop Rate (tiers 4–7) Similar to Seed Generation Rate, the later tiers of Button Drop Rate are worth pursuing in the mid-to-late game when Button income is high enough that the cost feels reasonable.

Rebirth Acceleration Rebirth Acceleration upgrades reduce the session time needed to reach your next Rebirth threshold. These are worth purchasing in the late game when your base Speed is already high and you are optimising for rapid Rebirth cycles.

C Tier — Situational Use

Cosmetic Upgrades Cosmetic upgrades change the appearance of your character or base but have no effect on Speed, Seeds, Buttons, or any progression metric. They are purely decorative. Purchase them only after all meaningful progression upgrades are maxed.

Shared Server Bonus Upgrades Some upgrades provide bonuses only when other players are in the server. If you primarily play during off-peak hours with few other players, these upgrades have limited value. During peak hours with a full server, they become more worthwhile.

D Tier — Generally Avoid

Legacy Tier Upgrades Some upgrades from earlier versions of the game remain in the shop but have been superseded by newer upgrade lines that provide the same or better effects at lower cost. These legacy upgrades are kept in the shop for players who bought them before the update but are not worth purchasing for new players.

Single-Use Temporary Boosts A small number of upgrades provide a large temporary bonus that expires after a fixed period. These can be useful in specific situations — for example, if you are pushing for a Baron Smog attempt and need a temporary boost — but they are not worth purchasing as a regular part of progression strategy.

Upgrade Cost Reference

Speed Multiplier upgrades scale in cost across ten tiers. Early tiers (1–3) cost between 50 and 200 Seeds. Mid tiers (4–7) cost between 500 and 2,000 Seeds. Late tiers (8–10) cost between 5,000 and 20,000 Seeds. Button costs for Speed Multiplier begin at tier four and increase progressively.

Seed Generation Rate and Button Drop Rate follow similar scaling curves with their own cost tables. Check the upgrade shop in-game for exact current prices, as costs may be adjusted in updates.

FAQ

Should I ever skip Speed Multiplier to buy something else? No. Speed Multiplier is unambiguously the best purchase in every scenario. All other upgrades either depend on Speed for their value or provide less acceleration than the Speed Multiplier they displaced.

What if I cannot afford Speed Multiplier — should I just wait? Yes. Accumulating enough resources to afford Speed Multiplier is always the correct move. Do not purchase a lower-tier upgrade as a placeholder if it delays your ability to afford Speed Multiplier.

Do the tier rankings change if I am playing solo? The rankings are largely the same for solo play. The only significant difference is that Shared Server Bonus upgrades drop in value because they require other players to activate. All other upgrade rankings remain consistent between solo and multiplayer.

Are there any upgrades that are only worth buying at specific Rebirth stages? Yes. Rebirth Acceleration upgrades are only worthwhile after your third Rebirth when the time saved between cycles becomes meaningful. Before that point, the cost of Rebirth Acceleration upgrades is better spent on Speed Multiplier tiers.
